Post-Publication Discussion Policy

Jurnal Sifo Mikroskil (JSM) is committed to promoting open scholarly communication, academic transparency, and continuous improvement in the quality of published research.

The journal recognizes that scholarly discussion may continue after an article has been published. Constructive feedback, critical evaluation, and academic dialogue contribute to the advancement of knowledge and help maintain the accuracy and integrity of the scholarly record.

This policy outlines the procedures for submitting, evaluating, and addressing comments, questions, and concerns regarding articles published in JSM.

1. Scope of Post-Publication Discussion

JSM welcomes constructive academic discussions concerning articles published in the journal.

Post-publication discussions may include:

  • Scholarly Comments: Academic observations, questions, or constructive criticism concerning published research.
  • Methodological Clarifications: Questions regarding research methods, data collection, analysis, or interpretation of findings.
  • Alternative Perspectives: Evidence-based interpretations or perspectives that contribute to a deeper understanding of published research.
  • Corrections and Clarifications: Reports of potential errors, inconsistencies, or inaccuracies identified in published articles.
  • Research Integrity Concerns: Reports of suspected ethical violations, plagiarism, data manipulation, or other matters affecting the integrity of published research.

All discussions must be relevant to the published article and conducted in a respectful, objective, and academically responsible manner.

2. Submission of Comments and Discussions

Readers, researchers, authors, and other interested parties may submit post-publication comments or inquiries to the JSM editorial team through the journal's official communication channels.

Comments may be submitted via email to:

jsm.fi@mikroskil.ac.id

Submissions should include:

  1. The title of the published article being discussed.
  2. The article's DOI or publication URL.
  3. The name and contact information of the individual submitting the comment.
  4. A clear explanation of the question, comment, criticism, or concern.
  5. Relevant references or supporting evidence, when applicable.

Comments should focus on the scholarly content of the article rather than personal criticism of its authors.

3. Editorial Assessment

The JSM editorial team will review submitted comments and determine whether further clarification, discussion, or editorial action is necessary.

During the assessment process, the editorial team may:

  • Evaluate the relevance and academic validity of the submitted comments.
  • Request additional information or supporting evidence from the individual submitting the comment.
  • Forward relevant questions or comments to the corresponding author of the published article.
  • Consult members of the editorial board or independent experts when necessary.
  • Determine whether a formal correction, clarification, or other editorial action is required.

Comments containing personal attacks, discriminatory statements, defamatory content, or unsupported allegations may be declined.

Editorial assessments will be conducted fairly, objectively, and in accordance with the journal's publication ethics principles.

4. Author Responses

Authors of published articles may be invited to provide responses or clarifications regarding substantive academic comments or questions.

Author responses should address the relevant scholarly concerns clearly and professionally.

When appropriate, authors may provide additional explanations, supporting evidence, methodological clarification, or references to support their responses.

The editorial team may facilitate communication between the parties and determine whether the discussion or clarification should be made publicly available.

5. Corrections and Post-Publication Actions

When post-publication discussions identify significant errors or concerns regarding the reliability or integrity of published research, JSM may initiate appropriate editorial procedures.

Depending on the nature and severity of the issue, these procedures may include:

  • Clarification: Providing additional explanations concerning specific aspects of the published article.
  • Correction: Publishing a correction to address errors that do not invalidate the article's principal findings.
  • Expression of Concern: Informing readers about unresolved concerns regarding the reliability or integrity of a published article.
  • Retraction: Retracting an article when serious errors or ethical violations undermine its scientific validity or integrity.

Such matters will be handled in accordance with the journal's Publication Ethics policy.

6. Transparency and Academic Integrity

JSM encourages scholarly discussions that contribute positively to academic knowledge and research quality.

Post-publication comments and responses must be evidence-based, respectful, and consistent with accepted standards of academic communication.

The editorial team reserves the right to determine whether comments, responses, or clarifications require further evaluation or public dissemination.

Where appropriate, significant editorial notices and corrective actions will be made accessible through the journal's official website to maintain transparency and preserve the integrity of the scholarly record.

7. Commitment to Continuous Scholarly Dialogue

JSM recognizes post-publication discussion as an important component of responsible scholarly publishing.

The journal is committed to facilitating constructive academic dialogue, addressing legitimate concerns regarding published research, and supporting the continuous improvement of scholarly communication.

Readers, authors, and researchers are encouraged to participate responsibly in discussions that contribute to the reliability, transparency, and advancement of scientific knowledge.
